CRAFT TRIAL DESCRIPTION

  • The CRAFT study aims to investigate the effects of early urinary catheter removal (48-72 hours) compared to catheter removal on day 5+ in adult kidney transplant recipients. The study aims to assess primary and secondary outcomes related to UTI, patient satisfaction, and graft and patient survival.

  • This trainee-led randomized controlled trial is part of the Herrick Trainee Research Network (TRN). The TRN supports trainees in conducting high-impact research, developing research and leadership skills, and collaborating across regions. Before the trial, an audit of catheter-induced UTIs was conducted, and a PPI event was organized to gather patient perspectives.

  • Junior doctors from any Transplant Unit are welcome to participate in the CRAFT study. The protocol is available for download by clicking on the study icon. Contact CraftTrial.HerrickSociety@gmail.com to take part, or for any questions about the project.
